There are different grades of bearings so take the time to find the ones that are right for you. They are going to be either 1,3,5,7,or 9. Generally you will want to use either a 3 or a 5 when you build your own skateboard.

The trucks will need to be placed underneath your deck as this is the axle system for any skateboard. You need to make sure that the width of them is a good match with the deck you have selected. Pay close attention to the overall height of them as well. The lower it is the easier you will be able to perform tricks and flips so they are a good match with small wheels. When you go with larger sized wheels you will also need to use a higher trunk.

It is very simple to build your own skateboard, even for a beginner. Make sure you use only quality parts though so it will be durable. When looking for a cheap skateboard as a beginner, the best thing to do is buy a skateboard that is already assembled. This is also known as a complete skateboard.
