What You Need To Know When You Start Skateboarding

Almost nobody is good at skateboarding right away. Naturally, some will learn the basics faster than other people. But some will need more practice to get to a comfortable place with the balance required and overall feel of skating. If you’re beginning, you’ll pick-up some tips and little tricks to help you learn faster and better. Cool. Ok, read the following to learn a few tips for buying your first skateboard and head-out to skate on your own.
Wearing the proper footware is important. Board control is critically important, so you’ll need to have the ability to control the board with your feet. If you ever want to do tricks, or if you use your board a lot, then you really will want to be wearing the proper shoes. Skateboarding shoes are just like athletic shoes except the inside is flat. There’s very little to zero arch support in the shoe, on purpose. You’ll have more board control because your feet will be able to control better. These shoes are not hard to find, and they’re not expensive, either. Buy your first skateboard at a skate shop instead of a sports store or a department store. It’s just that the people at a skate shop will know what you need to start with. Most newbies use an ABEC board in the beginning. But until you try some different boards and get a feel for them, you won’t know for sure what’s best. Employees in a skate shop will be better prepared to help you than anywhere else. Pay attention when these experts give you advice and guidance on your board selection. They really do know what’s going on!
Goofy and Regular are two basic stances you’ll want to learn. The Regular stance is done with the left foot in front, right foot in the rear. Just switch your feet positions to do the Goofy. You can do four basic push-off techniques. Regular - use right foot to push, Mongo Regular - push with front (right) foot, Goofy - use left foot, and Mongo Goofy - push with front (left) foot. In time you’ll decide what’s best depending how you feel about it. Anyone can learn to skate. If you can be patient and learn slowly, then you really can do anything you desire on a board. You’ll get there if you can be patient!
